My goal as a therapist is to create a space for you to step away from everything, ground, focus on yourself, and gain perspective on all the integrative parts that make up the whole.

It’s been a journey to get here.

My roots start in a small mountain town in Colorado, which gave me a lifelong connection to nature and a strong sense of the importance of community. Like many people, I was born into a family that came from generational trauma and dysfunctional cycles. My teenage years were filled with divorce, confusion, emotional disconnect, blended families, and uncertainty. As I launched from my family of origin I ended up relinquishing a division one scholarship after the first year so I could pursue a more purposeful life. I worked my way through city college and graduated from San Francisco State with a degree in psychology, determined to gain a better understanding of my story. It was love at first sight as I geeked out on classes like Psychoneuroimmunology and became fascinated with the brain and mind-body connection. While getting my M.A. in Holistic Counseling Psychology at John F. Kennedy University, I broadened my toolkit to incorporate an integrative approach to therapy, focusing on bio-psycho-social factors of health and wellbeing. Along the way, my husband and I had two children who have proven to be my biggest teachers. As a parent, I’ve been empowered, humbled, stretched, and challenged on a daily basis.

As with many women, my career path evolved and shifted when I became a parent.

Early in my career, I was drawn to working with adults and couples, when I had kids my focus changed as I experienced the education system through the eyes of a parent.  Shocked that we ask our kids to sit still in a classroom for 6-8 hours but don’t give them the tools to do so, I saw a massive hole in our education systems that fails to teach emotional literacy, vocabulary, and self-regulation tools.  I joined the staff at an elementary school that was ahead of the curve with a Social Emotional Learning curriculum and helped develop and implement mindfulness, effective communication, and conflict resolution strategies. I moved on to teach mindfulness to middle schoolers and then spent four years working in high schools, using a Harm Reduction Model to provide support and services for students and parents on issues ranging from anxiety to substance use and abuse. During that time, I worked for a nonprofit organization, Huckleberry Youth Programs, that supports underserved youth. My work in high schools and with Huckleberry provided insight on how to navigate school systems and county-wide programs, and broadened my list of resources in our community.

Jessica is the real deal. She is a gifted therapist. She brings authenticity, relatability, warmth, a sense of calm and groundedness, and a great deal of wisdom and training to her work. You feel that in her presence. She comes with an incredible toolbox of strategies, insights, tools, and resources to help young people, couples, families and individuals navigate and understand life’s many stumbles. Her genuine nature and approach helps people to feel safe and comfortable in their vulnerability. She is one of my go to people for feedback, support, resources and guidance. We worked closely together as Counselors at the Cove School and she was an inspiration to young people who gravitated to her - and felt comfortable and safe in her presence. She brings depth, knowledge and trust to her work. If she wasn’t such a close friend, I would choose her as my therapist or a therapist for my teen daughter.

Jessica was a colleague of mine in working with teens, and I got to see first hand the impact she made on teens, parents and other professionals. Jessica is one of those rare people who can connect authentically with just about anyone. She has deep wells of wisdom, compassion, and insight, and she holds a presence that just invites you in. For me, her personal character and her professional work generate a belief in transformation and healing.
